Easy to send money

Needed to send some money to a friend in Europe. Wise made it super simple. Signed up, linked my bank, and the transfer went through pretty quick. I think it took maybe a day and a half. Didn't have to deal with any weird fees, which was nice. Felt pretty straightforward.

Fast and cheap transfers!

Just completed another transfer with Wise and it was so fast! I sent money to my sister in Canada and it literally landed in her account in a few hours. The exchange rate was great too, much better than what my bank offered. I love using Wise for all my international payments, it's just so much easier and cheaper than anything else I've tried. Definitely my go-to for transfers!

Good for international payments

I recently set up a scheduled transfer to pay for an international subscription, and the process was quite intuitive. The initial setup for the Wise Account took a bit of verification, which is understandable for financial services. Once that was done, scheduling the recurring payment was straightforward. I received email notifications when the transfer was initiated and completed, which was helpful for tracking. The exchange rate used was transparent, matching what was advertised when I set it up. No hidden fees cropped up, which is a common concern with international transactions. Overall, it provided a reliable and transparent way to manage ongoing international payments without much fuss.

Always reliable transfers

I've used Wise for quite a few international payments now, mostly for sending money to family overseas. This last transfer was just as smooth as the others. The money arrived in their account within a day, same as usual. It's why I keep coming back, the rates are always good and I haven't had any issues with consistency.

Decent service, minor hiccup

I used Wise to send money to India. The transfer itself was fast, reaching the recipient in less than a day, and the exchange rate was competitive. That part was great. However, I had a small issue verifying my identity initially; it took a couple of tries for the document upload to go through, which delayed things by a few hours. Once that cleared, everything else went smoothly, and the fees were certainly lower than a traditional bank. Overall, it's a solid option, but they could improve the ID verification flow.

Can I use Wise here in the US without any problems? Like, for receiving money too?

M Michelle R. 5 days ago
Yep, totally. I use it all the time to get paid by clients in Europe and it works perfectly. They give you local US bank details too.

Confirmed, no issues. You can send, receive, and use the card here. It's fully functional in the US.

Hey guys, thinking about signing up for Wise to send money to my family in Mexico. Anyone know how long a transfer usually takes to get there?

T Tim 2 weeks ago
Mine usually hit within a few hours for Mexico, sometimes instantly if it's during business hours. Way faster than my old bank.

Yeah, it really depends on the bank on the receiving end too. Most of mine have been pretty quick, like same day, but I've had one or two take a full business day.

Thinking of moving a larger amount, like a down payment for a property abroad. Is Wise generally considered safe for big transfers like that?

C Chloe Gomez 1 month ago
I've sent several thousand with them before and never had an issue. They're regulated and everything, so seems legit for larger sums.

S Sandra Gomez 1 month ago
Yeah, they're pretty secure. Just make sure all your details are correct, especially for bigger transfers, always double check everything before hitting send.

How does Wise stack up against Revolut for international payments? I use Revolut sometimes but heard Wise might be cheaper.

M Michelle S. 4 weeks ago
For just transfers, Wise often has better rates and lower fees, especially if you're not on a premium Revolut plan. Revolut has more 'bank' features though.

I use both. Wise for pure money sending, Revolut for daily spending and budgeting when I travel. Rates on Wise are usually more transparent, I find.

So, what's the deal with getting a free transfer? Do I need some special code or something when I sign up?

J Julia W. 1 month ago
Usually, it's through a referral link from someone who already uses Wise. That's how I got my first transfer free. No separate code to type in.

E Elizabeth 1 month ago
Yeah, if you find someone's invite link, it applies automatically. I don't think they do a ton of actual promo codes you punch in, it's more link-based.

Anyone know if they do student discounts or anything like that for the fees?

J Jason Smith 1 month ago
I haven't seen anything specifically for students. The main way to get a discount is usually that first free transfer via a referral.

A Abigail Evans 1 month ago
Afaik, not directly. It's mostly the referral program that gives you a break on fees. Maybe check around for a specific invite link from a friend who uses it?

Is the Wise debit card actually free? Or are there hidden fees to order it or anything?

L Linda Young 1 week ago
There's usually a small fee to order it, I think it was like 9 bucks when I got mine. But no monthly fees or anything after that.

O Olivia 1 week ago
Mine had a one-time order fee, yep. But using it abroad is super cheap, that's where it really shines compared to regular bank cards.
